Alan Lancaster attended  Leamington College of Art for a foundation Course then Stourbridge College where he took a  B.A. in Fine Arts. Later he attended City University where he studied for an M.A. in Arts Management in Education. After 3 years of teaching art at a secondary school in the East End of London, he was appointed Head of Art at Queen Elizabeth Boys’ School in Barnet, London, a post  held for two years before leaving to pursue a more lucrative career in specialist decoration and mural painting. Mural painting led to fine art copies with commissions from home and abroad in collections as far afield as the United Arab Emirates, America, Switzerland and France.

Painting copies helped Alan develop skills that were not on offer at his art college at a time when representative art  was virtually outlawed.

His work is now executed almost exclusively  on location, primarily in London but also abroad.
