The Admiral’s House, once painted by John Constable, has a perfect viewpoint from Fenton House Gardens. The gardens at Fenton House are perfectly maintained and are rich in floral colour even at this time of the year. It always looks immaculate but I have never yet seen a gardener there.
Hot Summer’s Day at Hampstead Pond This 12″x10″ painting was executed on a perfect summer’s day, (one of the very few we had in 2015)! It was one of several I did during the course of the day and this one seemed to have a sparkle about it that I wanted to capture.
It is difficult to express into words how difficult it was to access this viewpoint. Officially fenced off, this barrier is nothing compared to the struggle through the overgrowth necessary to reach the lakeside view. Wildlife was abundant and sounded almost tropical. I was badly bitten on both both hands by what looked like mosquitoes…
